About Blessed Children's Home
Blessed Children's Home (BCH) was started in 1994. The vision of Babu and Sabitri (the founders) was both simple and profound - to give love and a place where children could meet. The decision to start Blessed Children's Home was based on a God-given desire to care for and to love the untouched, the unloved, and the unwanted. Babu and Sabitri wanted the children to know they were fearfully and wonderfully created by their Heavenly Father.
It all started in a rented room in Kathmandu with the acceptance of two girls in their lives, just three months after their marriage. Who would have thought that what started as a pair of newlyweds taking two children into their single rented room in Kathmandu could turn into a large campus that would touch the lives of so many kids? The home began in Kathmandu, Nepal, but in April of 2007, BCH settled in it's present location in Hetauda.
Despite the fact that BCH didn't have financial sponsors or organizations to help them get started, they trusted in the faithfulness of God. After a couple of years, a short-term missionary with Youth With a Mission heard about what God was doing through Babu and Sabitri, and he asked if he could bring a team of young people and serve them. This relationship with John Davidson opened the doors to many others, as young people came, and served alongside Babu and Sabitri, and had their hearts captured by God's love for the Nepali people, and the children of BCH.
This was certainly the case for me (Tabitha), as I came on a short, two-month trip in the year 2000. During that trip I witnessed children who'd endured so many difficulties be drawn into one big family! I saw the Holy Spirit changing lives. For many years, I remained in touch with Babu and Sabitri. In 2015, my husband Paul and I with our 4 boys stayed at BCH for 6 months. We returned to the US with assurance from God that he had bound us together with BCH.
Upon our return to the US, we had learned that Equip Nepal, a wonderful organization which had been supporting BCH, would no longer be able to do so. After some prayer, God graciously put it on our hearts to pick up that mantle, and see where He would lead. I'm happy to share that God has gone above and beyond our expectations – providing not only for every financial need of BCH, but God also provided for the completion of the church building and Bible School in Hetauda through the generous support of believers.
What began as a call from the Lord has blossomed into a nearly 10-year relationship with BCH. We have watched children grow up and go into adulthood, and have been able to see the impact that BCH has had on so many lives. We continue to look for new opportunities to serve and honor the work being done in the name of Jesus in Nepal and abroad!
