About First Light Child Sponsorship & Blessed Children's Home
Child Sponsorship
Twenty-five years ago, the Vargheses began to take in children brought to them with no other place to go than the streets. The Vargheses’ home is not an orphanage; it is a huge family where they are loved and counted as worthy, and can learn of the great love of Jesus and how He cares for them. Personally providing for the amount of children they do has come at a great cost, but not just financially. The Vargheses live under constant scrutiny and threats to their lives, and have even miraculously survived a bombing at their first home’s location.
This child sponsorship is unique for many reasons. 100% of the sponsorship donations will go directly to Blessed Children’s Home and the needs of the children, which can rarely be said. You will know that your donations are not getting lost in the overhead costs, nor will you feel removed from the real people impacted by your gift. This program provides more than daily meals on a plate – it also supplies everything for enriching the child’s life – from books, toys and footwear to medication. Our hope is that these children will be covered in all areas of their lives, from needing to see a doctor, to having a birthday gift, to pursuing their God-given passions. In Nepal, children complete standard education at age 16 and must begin to earn a living. Blessed Children’s Home always welcomes their children home, even as adults, and encourages them to seek an education or vocation. They do their best to provide money to allow the children to attend a university or dowry required for marriage.
Lastly, by freeing the Varghese family up financially with the children’s home, this will allow Babu to focus on the growing Bible School he also heads up nearby. There are little to no educational resources for Christians in many areas of Nepal. Babu has seen this incredible need and as more and more people have come to him thirsty to know more about Jesus and want to tell others, he’s felt the need to open a school to try to supply a place to teach, train, and then send out believers.
